Education Freedom

Charter School Expansion

North Dakota recently became the 47th state to authorize public charter schools, a historic step toward providing families with tuition-free, innovative education options. While the legal framework is in place and administrative rules are set to take effect on April 1, 2026, the success of this rollout depends on true accessibility. We will be keeping a close watch on the implementation process to ensure that artificial barriers—such as restrictive enrollment caps or authorizer bottlenecks—do not hinder the growth of these schools. Our goal is to make sure that as the first wave of schools prepares for the 2026-2027 school year, the system remains flexible and responsive to the actual needs of North Dakota parents and students.
