AFP-North Dakota Praises Governor Armstrong for Support of Furloughed DHS Workers, Urges Reopening of DHS
Bismarck, ND — Americans for Prosperity-North Dakota (AFP-ND) praised Gov. Kelly Armstrong for reopening the state’s low-interest loan program to support federal employees in the state during the ongoing partial government shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The program, which is run through the Bank of North Dakota, will reopen on March 19 and offer emergency financial support to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents who call North Dakota home. The DHS shutdown has continued for over a month now, and AFP-ND reiterated the national AFP call urging Congress to reopen the agency.
AFP-ND State Director Justin Forde gave the following statement:
“Governor Armstrong made the right move reactivating the emergency low-interest loan program. The DHS shutdown is impacting hardworking Americans and their families, including here in North Dakota. We owe it to the DHS workers in our state to lend a helping hand, just as Congress owes it to the American people to stop playing political games and end the ongoing partial shutdown as quickly as possible.”
